How to Write Your Family History

About the Workshop

Writing your family history—As George Bernard Shaw said “If you cannot get rid of the family skeleton, you may as well make it dance.” If you have Alex Haley’s talent for writing your family’s history, this seminar is probably not for you. This is designed for the person who always wanted to get family stories written for posterity but never got started for any number of reasons. This seminar will give you tips on how to get started, motivate and inspire you to preserve those wonderful stories before they are lost.

Susan Collins will facilitate this seminar. She has an avid interest in her family history and preserving it for future generations. She is a graduate of Augustana College, taught high school social studies, led training sessions for Black Hawk College, facilitated Writing Your Life’s Legacy Letter for the Midwest Writing Center, and is the current president of Midwest Writing Center Board of Directors. She is published in professional journals.
