Local Writing Groups 

Quint City Poets

Quint City Poets meets every first Wednesday of the month, year round, 7-9 p.m. at the Bettendorf Library, 2950 Learning Campus Drive, in Bettendorf.  You can read your own poetry, other poems you like, or simply listen and enjoy.  If you would be interested in an informal, user-friendly, stimulating group, check us out!  For further information, contact Katherine Searle at searle@quintcitypoets.com.

 

The Memoirs Writing Group

Meets on the third Monday of each month at the Davenport Public Library at 10:00 a.m.  The contact person is Bette Kulas at 563-322-2401.

 

Juvenile Forum

If you are interested in forming a critique group for those interested in writing for children and young adults, please contact the Midwest Writing Center.

 

The Writers' Studio

This group meets on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays at 10 a.m.  at the Midwest Writing Center.  Please come to the south door at 9:45 or after for admittance. Work with award winning writers and published authors. If you wish to read, please bring a maximum of 5 pages double spaced.  This is an informal free workshop.  Contact Steven Lackey 309-792-8992 for more information.

 

Romance Writers of the Quad Cities

The local chapter is affiliated with Romance Writers of America.  The local dues are $15.00 per year.  The group meets on Tuesdays from 6:00-10:00 at the Hauberg Civic Center, 1300 24th St., Rock Island, Illinois.  Prospective new members can contact Theresa Davis via e-mail Theresa.Davis@groupo.com or by phone 309-314-8726.

The Young Writers Guild

All young writers in the QCA interested in writing poetry, fiction, or creative non-fiction are invited to join.  The group will focus primarily on workshopping in a collaborative environment.  You will get pointers on grammar, style, and content from a variety of people, and you will get an interested audience for your writing.  The process helps to make you a better reader and writer.  There will also be writing exercises and games, public readings, an open blog to post stories and poetry on, and potentially publishing a magazine.  The group meets twice monthly.  For more information call 324-1410 or email mwc@midwestwritingcenter.org
 

LeClaire Writers' Group

The group meets on the second Thursday of the month from 6-8 p.m. in the fireside room of the LeClaire, Iowa Community Library at 323 Wisconsin St.  Writers of all genres are welcome to come for discussion and refreshments.  Call (563) 289-1333 for more information.
