Submission guidelines
below
The Midwest Writing
Center will showcase the poetry and prose of its Out
Loud participants in its
fourth annual anthology. All Out Loud
participants are invited to participate (See
guidelines below). The Anthology of Out Loud
Poetry & Prose, Volume 4, will be a tribute to the
Midwest
Writing Center’s Out Loud participants, their
talents, and their love of writing.

Anthology
Guidelines:
1. Entries will be accepted starting October 1, 2010 and
will continue until February 15, 2011.
The submissions will be reviewed by our selection
panel. If your work appears in the
Anthology, you will receive a submitter’s copy at no
cost. We are looking for a sponsor to
help with the costs of the publication. If you know of
someone, please let us know.
2. All entries must be submitted in a Word document
format with each entry on a separate
page within the document. One poem/prose may be submitted per document.
Each
document must contain entrant’s name, address, telephone
number, and email address.

with Anthology in subject line. If it is not possible to
email submissions, please contact Brenda Brown, 2911 26th
Ave., Moline, Illinois 61265.
3. Each applicant is allowed up to three submissions
(poems or prose). Prose must be
limited to 1,000 words or less.
4. All poetry content must be appropriate for audiences
of all ages.
5. Poets eligible to participate in the Out Loud
Anthology are those who have actively participated
in either Out Loud or Out Loud Plus since its inception
in 2002 and those invited by special invitation.
6. Submissions must be unpublished and original works
of participants.
7. Each participant must mail to the Midwest Writing
Center a signed copy of the Statement
of Authenticity Form that can be found below.
8. All submissions will be considered for publication
by the Out Loud Anthology Committee,
and that committee will be responsible for selecting the
poems/prose that will be included.
In addition, with the permission of the poet, all Out Loud poems/prose of
the month will be
included in the anthology.
9. The anthology will include an ISBN.
10. Each author included in the anthology will receive
a complimentary copy of the Anthology.
11. Copies of the anthology will be available for
purchase by Out Loud participants and the
general public at the Midwest Writing Center and through
Amazon.com.
12. Each participant whose submission is published in
the Out Loud Anthology IV (along with
the Out Loud poems of the month) will have their name placed in a drawing
for free tuition
to the 2011 David R. Collins Writers' Conference (a
$200+ value). The winner will be
drawn at MWC’s annual meeting on May 12, 2010 at the
Deere Wiman House. You
must be present to win.
13. All contributors will be invited to read their
submissions at the Out Loud Anthology Launch Party (Date
TBA)
