The
David R. Collins Children’s Literature is named after
its eponymous founder, a beloved author and teacher who
passed away in 2001. David founded the Children’s
Literature Festival in 1978 and guided its subsequent
growth. Now, the Festival continues in his memory—
dedicated to his goal of encouraging future generations
of readers and writers.
FYI
Each elementary school in the Mississippi Valley
community is invited to share in the excitement at the
David R. Collins Children Literature Festival at the
Davenport River Center on October 27, 2009.
[Home-schooled children also are encouraged to
participate.]
Each adult supervisor may bring four students from
Grades 3, 4, 5, and 6. The cost for an adult supervisor

answer questions. Books and artwork by these authors
