Authors on Writing Series
MWC's first featured author, Max Allan Collins, appeared in
July in conjunction with release of DreamWorks' "Road
to Perdition," based on his 1998 graphic novel of the same
name. That event showed audiences are interested in
writers talking about their lives, their experiences
and what inspires them.
We're planning future programs
that feature authors reading from their work and then
talking about their "job" - the craft of writing.
besides what inspired them to write a particular book, we
want to know how they got the book published and what
advice they have for other writers.
A BROWN BAG LUNCH Series in 2003 is in the works. Upcoming featured speakers include Chris Walkowicz, Roald Tweet, Jodi O'Donnell, Rich Johnson, Bill Hannan, Vicki Crompton-Tetter, JoAnna Lund, Matthew Clemens, Jill Esbaum and Bj Elsner.
If you would like
to be a featured speaker for the authors on writing series,
contact: mwcqc@qcoline.com

Dark River Press
launches its e-books online service:
Completed novels of 55,000-65,000 words or short stories of 3,000-4,000
words. We will pay a small advance and royalties based on how
many times the on-line books are downloaded. We plan a "freebie"
poetry corner, where readers can read good poetry at no cost to
them. Poets can send their very best to us now, although it won't
appear for a while. We prefer free verse but will publish an occasional
rhymed piece if it is very clever and SCANS as well as RHYMES.

For more info, email kitscape@aol.com
Note: The website is still being developed. Two
Quad City authors will be featured soon we look forward to publishing
more. -- Kit Redeker
